Key Notes
- Installed size: 2.29 GB on Windows, ~2.2 GB on macOS. Download is 1.14 GB (.zip) / 1.03 GB (.dmg)
- No AI model is bundled. Local AI runs through Ollama, a free separate install — EPIC prompts you and drives it from its own interface
- Local models are extra storage: a 7–8B model at 4-bit is ~4–5 GB, a 14B is ~9 GB. Ollama stores them in its own directory
- RAM is the real constraint for local AI: a 7B model wants ~5–6 GB resident. 8 GB works with a small model, 16 GB is comfortable
- GPU is optional: Ollama uses it when present and falls back to CPU. Charter and the 3D Cortex want a modern GPU
- Architecture: Windows is x64 only (ARM64 runs under emulation). macOS is Apple Silicon only — Intel Macs are not currently built
- Network: Optional — everything works offline except cloud AI providers and web search
