We collect minimal information necessary to operate the Site and deliver the Software. We collect several types of data:

Personal Data: When you purchase a license or create an account, we may collect your email address, name, and payment information. Payment information is processed by our third-party payment provider and is never stored by EPIC.

Usage Data (Website Only): When you visit our Site, we may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, time and date of your visit, and other diagnostic data. This data is collected through our Site only — the desktop Software does not phone home or transmit usage data.

License Validation Data: The Software may communicate with our servers solely to validate your license key. This process transmits only your license key and a device identifier. No creative content, project data, or personal files are ever transmitted.

We never collect, access, read, store, or transmit your creative content. All stories, manuscripts, world-building data, maps, characters, diagrams, notes, images, and any other project data you create in EPIC is stored exclusively on your local device.

We have no cloud infrastructure for storing user content. We have no ability to access your files. Your creative work remains entirely under your control at all times.

EPIC includes AI-powered features (The Oracle for writing assistance, The Illustrator for image generation) that can integrate with third-party AI providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Stability AI, and others.

These integrations use your own API keys. EPIC does not provide, store, proxy, or have access to your API keys. When you use cloud AI features, your prompts and data are sent directly from your device to the AI provider using your credentials.

EPIC does not collect, intercept, or store any data exchanged between your device and third-party AI providers. Any data you send to these providers is governed by their respective privacy policies, not ours. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any AI providers you choose to use.

EPIC also supports local AI models that run entirely on your device. When using local AI, no data leaves your machine whatsoever.

The limited information we do collect is used for the following purposes:

• To validate your software license
• To process your purchase and deliver your license key
• To notify you about important updates to the Software
• To provide customer support when you contact us
• To improve our Site and marketing materials
• To detect, prevent, and address technical issues on our Site
• To comply with legal obligations

We do not use your information for advertising, behavioral profiling, or selling to third parties.

Our Site uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to track activity and hold certain information. Cookies are small files stored on your device.

Regarding your creative content: because all project data is stored locally on your device, you are responsible for the security and backup of your own files. We strongly recommend maintaining regular backups.

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose your Personal Data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:

• Comply with a legal obligation
• Protect and defend the rights or property of EPIC
• Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Service
• Protect the personal safety of users or the public
• Protect against legal liability

We may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate our Site and license management (“Service Providers”). These may include:

• Payment Processing — To process your license purchase securely
• Authentication — To manage your account on our Site
• Analytics — To monitor and analyze usage of our Site (not the Software)

These third parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
